Home-Care & Mobile-Care Check-In Boundaries
A deliberately limited operational template for caregiver and mobile-service pilots that keeps protected or clinical information out of the board.
Start with this board
| Who | Caregivers, field nurses, mobile clinicians, coordinators, and supervisors |
|---|---|
| Assignment field | Visit code or area — for example, Visit HC-204 · Zone South |
| Suggested roles | Caregiver, Field nurse, Mobile clinician, Coordinator, Supervisor |
| Check-in moments | Shift start → Visit arrival when permitted by policy → Visit departure |
Three questions for the morning huddle
- Is the approved care or visit system current?
- Does the worker need backup for a known safety concern?
- Who receives a missed-visit escalation?
Privacy and safety boundary
Never enter a patient’s name, diagnosis, address, medication, or clinical note. CheckInForWork has not been represented as a HIPAA-compliant clinical system.
When this lightweight board is no longer enough
Use an approved EVV, scheduling, clinical, or care-management platform whenever regulation, payer rules, protected health information, or clinical documentation applies.
Recordkeeping note
The U.S. Department of Labor allows employers to choose a timekeeping method, provided required records are complete and accurate. Check-in timestamps can help reconstruct events, but they do not calculate compensable time, overtime, travel time, or every record an employer may need. Review DOL Fact Sheet #21 and applicable state and local rules.
